About the history of Kedah Royal Museum
Royal Museum (home Pelamin) is a palace originally known as the Palace of the Sultan of Kedah Kota Setar. The building was built by the late Sultan Muhammad Jiwa sidelines in 1736. After some ceremonial royal wedding, the palace known as Istana Pelamin. The castle was also the site of the Kedah royal family dwelling and a center for ceremonies such as weddings and also habitual ritual circumcision princes and royal Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah.
History About the Throne Hall, Alor Setar, Kedah
By opening the Alor Setar City in 1735 by Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Adilin Mu'adzam Shah II, the 19th Sultan of Kedah (1710-1778), some of the early buildings were completed including the Kota Setar Palace, the Great Hall, Throne Hall and the State Mosque . Design Throne Hall of the original can not be identified, but clearly it is made of wood.
Age of Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Mukarram Shah, the Sultan of Kedah to-24 (1854-1879), a new Throne Hall was built up to five storeys. Whole buildings were built of wood and zinc roofs.
While at the time of Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah, the Sultan of Kedah to-26 (1882-1943), established a new Throne Hall again made of stone and metal. The design is the same as the previous wooden building. It has three floors and a dome which is located at the peak reflecting Islamic elements such as the construction of the mosque. The new building was completed in 1906.
On this day, Kedah Throne Hall was used as a store of musical instruments which only played the Royal Throne in the Royal ceremonies such as the coronation day, marriage and burial Royal. Throne musical consists of three large tambourine, two small tambourine, a gong and a flute can produce a compelling combination of sound known as nobat music, a form of song culture of the state.
SILVER JUBILEE PARK
Silver Jubilee Park (Taman Jubli Perak) is located behind the Kedah's state secretariat building complex, Wisma Darul Aman at Jalan Tunku Bendahara. It is the major recreation park in Alor Setar, which is literally known in Malay as "Rekreasi Taman Rimba".
The park was opened by the Sultan of Kedah Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah in 1983. It is rather aging, but still a favourite spot for the locals to hang out for activities such as picnicking, jogging and relaxing under the tree shades.
Facilities provided by the park are children playground, toilets, exercise equipments, reflexology tracks, sitting benches, jogging tracks and rest huts. There are also food stalls along the stretch of the road right in front of the park.
The park has plenty of shade trees and has no lake, but one can notice that it has become a popular dating place for couples !.
